Dolls and Toys
The Day Nursery represents Victorian childhood and is a reminder of the ten Bantock children who grew up in the house.
Many of the dolls in our toy cupboard were gifts of Miss Daisy St Clair Mander., daughter of Charles Mander the wealthy industrialist. Miss Mander gave her collection of some 300 dolls to Wolverhampton in 1952.
The collection includes many play-dolls, but by far the greater part of the collection is given over to dolls in regional or national dress and to a smaller extent, to folk and ethnological dolls brought back by Miss Mander and her friends from their frequent travels abroad.
